What you need to know before you buy your wedding dress online
If you’re not a fan of hopping from one bridal store to the next or you simply don’t have the time, you can buy your wedding dress online. But when you’re buying online there are a few things you need to pay more attention too. Here are 5 things to consider before you buy.
Avoid copycats
Ever seen a snazzy website with high-res photos of copies of your dream designer wedding dress at a price you can afford? Sounds too good to be true? Then it most probably is. What you actually get sent in the post could be quite disappointingly different. If a website says it can copy a designer dress, avoid it.
Avoid resizing oversized dresses
Found your dream dress but its several sizes too large? Don’t buy it. Resizing a size 18 to a size 12 often means losing the integrity of the design. If your size isn’t available and there is only something bigger, don’t go beyond 2 sizes up from your actual measurements — even the best seamstress will struggle to tailor down anything beyond this.
Get your size right for right now
The golden rule of wedding dress shopping, which applies online too — buy your dress at the size you are right now.
Many brides plan to lose weight before the big day but with all the stress of wedding planning, this more often than not doesn’t happen. Be realistic and buy the size you are right now. And don’t worry about the size number. Wedding gown sizes are notoriously one or two sizes smaller than regular highstreet clothing. So don’t stress about that, instead, focus on the specific body measurements and whether they match your body size and shape.
